One of the management strategies for efficient use of restricted water resources is using of water absorbent materials such as polymers with too much water absorption capability. Infiltration rate into the soil is one of the most important parameters in irrigation system design. This study was done to investigate the effect of different amounts of absorbent material on water infiltration into the farm’s soil, using double rings method. The research was done in factorial experiment with three replications. The first factor was applying different absorbent material levels at 4, 8, 16 and 24 grams per square meter of soil and second factor was time steps after absorbent application such as the day of application and also four and eight days after. Also in this study The Kostiakov – Lewis and Philippe models were used for simulation of water infiltration in to the soil. The results showed that increasing the absorbent material amounts has no significant effect on cumulative infiltration and infiltration rate at 1 and 5 percent probability. So the absorbent material levels which are used in this study couldn’t prevail on soil physical properties in field scale. But the time factor was significant at 1% probability and soil infiltration decrease from 5-10 mm/hour to 2-5 mm/hour in different treatment. Also R2 factor showed that Kostiakov – Lewis and Philippe models were fitted acceptably to the data for the different treatments. But Philip model could be used more safely for estimation of infiltration in real conditions.
