The implementation of modern irrigation systems is expected to have observable social impacts on rural communities in the long run; therefore, attention to social indicators in evaluating modern irrigation systems is of great importance. This study is applied in nature and uses a survey method with the aim of identifying and examining the social factors affecting modern irrigation systems in desh-e Ardastan, Isfahan Province. The main data collection tool is a questionnaire, and data collection methods included documentary review, interviews, and the study population. The study population consisted of all farmers who had implemented modern irrigation systems on their farms and orchards in Desh-e Ardastan from 2014 (1393) to the end of 2022 (1401). The population size was determined using Cochran’s formula at 132 individuals. For data analysis and description, SPSS software was used. Based on the conducted research, 12 social influence factors were identified. The results of examining the social effects of modern irrigation systems show that the enhanced performance resulting from implementing modern irrigation systems leads to an improvement in the livelihoods of producers and rural households, reverse migration of 12.1% of farmers, and an increased willingness among them to invest in the agricultural sector. The overall satisfaction level of respondents with the implementation of the modern irrigation scheme was very high, estimated at about 85%. In total, 73.5% of farmers have consolidated their lands. From the respondents’ viewpoint, the implementation of modern irrigation systems has increased farmers’ social capital, sustainability and continuity of agricultural employment, and brought changes in cropping patterns. Overall, the studies indicate that the implementation of modern irrigation systems has raised social indicators and advanced rural communities
