Mulberry leaves are the only known food source for silkworm rearing. The production of high-quality silk requires the use of mulberry leaves of appropriate quality and quantity, which in turn requires systematic and optimal irrigation. In this study, the effect of sprinkle irrigation on irrigation water consumption, mulberry leaf yield, and water productivity was investigated in comparison with rainfed and surface irrigation system from June to September 2022 and 2023 at the National Silk Research Center located in the Pasikhan region of Rasht city. After irrigation, three mulberry trees were randomly selected from each irrigation treatment and then the branch was harvested from the most distal point possible and the yield was compared in two stages (at the beginning of the irrigation season in June and after the full application of the treatments in September). The results of the analysis of variance in the two sampling stages showed that the difference between the treatments was significant at the 5% level. The results showed that the leaf yield per hectare in sprinkle irrigation was higher than the other treatments (the harvest in June and September was 10257.50 and 3804 kg/ha, respectively). The amount of water used in the sprinkle irrigation treatment was less than the surface irrigation treatment and for this reason, water productivity was the highest with 17.02 kg/m3. The results showed that the application of sprinkle irrigation in mulberry orchard had a positive effect on reducing water consumption, increasing mulberry leaf production, and improving water productivity.
